Spencer Dean began his career in 1984 working for his Father's structural shotcrete
and gunite business, where he also learned swimming pool and water feature
construction from design to completion. Working on dome homes, erosion control,
and bridges instilled in him a strong structural understanding of rebar and concrete
construction. In the late 80's, Spencer and his father were drawn to more creative
projects like amusement parks, commercial water features, and themed hotel suites
all across the continental U.S., as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Spencer has specialized exclusively in naturalistic habitats for zoos, aquariums, and
museums, as well as themed environments since 1992, when Jolly Miller gave him
his start in the exhibit construction industry. He has been involved in every facet of
his profession, from estimating and design, to lead artist and project manager.

Spencer is a respected artist in the themed-environment industry, where he is
well-known for accurately depicting geology, trees, plants, sea biologies, life-forms,
and architectural facades. He works with a vast array of materials and innovative
techniques to achieve the highest level of detail and believability. His careful
observation of nature has led to his involvement in many award winning projects
around the world.
